Texa at Automechanika : at Frankfurt the Italian company presents its revolutionary products TMD (Texa Mobile Diagnostic) and Navigator Mobile for multi-brand, wireless diagnosis, thus confirming its position as a sector leader
Having undergone a truly remarkable development that in just 12 years has made it the undisputed leader of the Italian market and an important player on an international scale, Texa will be present at the German Trade Fair with two new proposals that once again highlight its dynamic nature and that will undoubtedly cause a stir.
If the ability of dialoguing with the diagnostic systems present in the units of almost all makes and models of car, motorcycle and goods vehicles, if a very rapid upgrade system, efficient call centre and typically elegant Italian styling have led products such as Axone, Pegaso and Navigator the choices of more than 25,000 European repairers, with these new products Texa engineers now pave the way for wireless applications in the broadest sense of the term, thus freeing them from physical bonds between diagnostic instrument and vehicle and from the conventional car to be repaired – workshop connection.
Starting with this latter revolutionary system, being able to monitor all the parameters of every vehicle in a fleet of trucks or cars hundreds of kilometres away may seem more like a vision, a long-term prophecy than an idea: thanks to the experience acquired by Texa’s R&D department, its database and having been pioneers in the use of instruments such as the Internet, it is now a surprising, functional and reliable reality that goes by the name of TMD. TMD’s heart is a sophisticated unit able to dialogue with all the electronic systems of the vehicle on which it is installed and therefore monitoring the operation of almost every vital function, using the vehicle’s self-diagnosis properties and resources. The TMD unit is also fitted with a GPS receiver. By means of a GSM/GPRS telephone signal emitted from the unit at programmable intervals and Texa software programme, all the data is periodically sent to a server and can be consulted using the Internet. Operation is two-way as data can be requested of the unit, which can also be ordered to act on the vehicle by a remote user. TMD was designed for goods vehicles fleets and is of obvious use for fleet managers, allowing the monitoring of trucks’ positions and movements (with optional tele-surveillance and dynamic navigation), technical tests on vehicles without inspecting them physically or, in the case of faults, being able to detect causes at a distance and therefore activate breakdown services with certain elements. The device’s simplicity allows the crossover between an infinity of parameters, by performing and customising each type of test. For instance, fleet managers can remotely monitor the voltage of all fleet batteries, the percentage of wear of each and every brake pad, the efficiency of the brake or pneumatic system or any other detail of interest. However, TMD also has extremely high potential implications in the car sector, especially in top of the range vehicles and it is no coincidence that Texa has signed an agreement with Pagani that immediately recognised the system’s potential and participated in its development by installing it on the Zonda supercars. Navigator Mobile is a natural evolution of its predecessor Navigator. This multi-brand, multi-environment self-diagnosis system for PC is Texa’s response to the increased use of electronic solutions in cars, bikes and goods vehicles. Compact (160x170x55mm) and lightweight (800g), good-looking and practical (800 gr), Navigator Mobile can be connected to any PC in a Windows environment, thus transferring all the electronic information provided by the units installed in vehicles with a homogeneous display standard: whatever make and model the repairer is inspecting, the information he requires will always be displayed in the same way, thus preventing him from having to interpret languages that vary from one time to another. Once again Texa’s multi-brand experience translates into invaluable simplifications and universality. Unlike its predecessor Navigator, as well as being designed for use in multiple environments, Mobile does not require additional modules. With the introduction of the electronic commutation of communication lines that allows the automatic scanning of all on-board systems and the possibility of connecting to PCs also in wireless mode using Bluetooth technology, the efficiency of the new Navigator is now even greater. Just think of the practicalities of checks to be performed on a trailer that a single operator will be able to perform; with Navigator Mobile positioned in the driver’s cabin, a technician in the rear part of the trailer can command the activation of suspensions thus visually verifying that they work properly. Therefore, in addition to guaranteeing greater practicality and speed, Bluetooth technology also allows operators to perform remote monitoring, a sort of telemetry: so long as the system is covered, he will be able to perform any desired check, thus studying the vehicle’s dynamic behaviour even with short accelerations and routes, a kind of miniature TMD. As tradition dictates, Navigator is also able configure units, perform adjustments, switch off indicator lights, programme keys and reset the maintenance of almost all models. With these two new products Texa intends to further strengthen its market position, which currently accounts for an almost 50% in Italy and a leading position in Europe, as part of the development plan that has taken it to sign agreements with important companies such as Johnson Controls, Sagem, Magneti Marelli, Gruppo AD, and to stipulate important cooperation agreements with Confartigianato Italiana and the Italian Ministry of Education, University and Research. Texa is now present in some 21 European countries, with branch offices in Germany and Spain and produces more than 1000 diagnosis instruments per month and a quantity of accessories that varies between 1000 and 1500 pieces per month. Texa and Texa Deutschland will be participating in Automechanika with a two-storey stand covering a total of 230 m2 in stand 8.0, lane M.
